Dentures

A common tooth replacement option, dentures help patients with missing teeth who are not good candidates for implants. Dr. Patel can restore your smile with well-fitting, aesthetic prostheses that allow you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Traditional dentures

Cosmetic dentures are removable prostheses that replace entire arches of missing teeth. They are also called facelift or removable dentures, and are made of gum-colored material and high-quality acrylic teeth.

Primarily, properly placed dentures help retain chewing function. In addition, they restore facial height in a natural-looking way, eliminating the appearance of premature aging. As a result, you can expect to enjoy a better smile visually and functionally.

Alternatively, conventional partial dentures replace a series of missing teeth in an arch rather than all your teeth. Clasps usually attach these to your existing teeth. They are typically made with clasps that attach to your existing teeth. We can craft partial dentures without clasps while ensuring optimum health and enhanced appearance.

Implant-retained dentures

Implant-retained dentures are permanently fixed replacement teeth attached to your arch via 2 to 4 strategically placed dental implants. These can better help restore your chewing force to almost the same level as your natural teeth. However, they typically provide less support than the hybrid prostheses described in the next section.

Because these are permanent, you don’t need dental adhesives to keep your teeth in place. Additionally, they aren’t built with palates. In some cases, both of these can either be annoying or cause patients to gag.

In short, fixed prostheses provide more permanent structure and support. Like traditional dentures, they revitalize your smile. However, they are far more comfortable and convenient while eliminating facial sagging and premature aging.

Implant-supported fixed prosthesis

Non-removable, implant-supported fixed prostheses work well if you are missing most of your teeth. Also called hybrid dentures, they are a more permanent solution to removable prostheses. These have the same benefits as the implant-retained alternative. However, they provide better support thanks to the additional implants.

To place these, Dr. Patel strategically places 4 or 6 dental implants on your arch. Next, he affixes your permanent replacement teeth on top. At Infinite Smiles, we can even place these fixed, implant-supported restorations in a single day.

Dental implants can prevent bone loss by strengthening the jawbone through natural stimulation. Likewise, this prosthesis more closely resembles natural teeth in appearance and function. This means you don’t have to limit your diet. And, you likely won’t need to worry about hiding your smile ever again.  This is because dental implants can last a lifetime when cared for properly.
