TMJ Treatment / Teeth Grinding | Infinite Smiles

Millions of Americans suffer from undiagnosed jaw and facial pain as well as chronic headaches and migraines. Many would never look to their dentist to discover solutions for their chronic pain. The fact is, problems with your jaw joint could be contributing to this pain. We call this TMD, or temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Because the cause is often unknown and the symptoms are easy to confuse with other disorders, it takes a knowledgeable health professional to diagnose TMD properly. If you’re suffering from jaw pain, Infinite Smiles has the solutions you need to get back your health and live comfortably.

As a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, Dr. Patel has the experience required to relieve your chronic jaw pain for good! He can identify the cause of your pain, diagnose TMD, and reverse your TMJ pain — not just treat the symptoms. If you’re suffering from jaw pain, Infinite Smiles has the solutions you need to get back your health and live comfortably.

Finding the correct jaw position is key to eliminating discomfort. For patients who grind or clench their teeth at night, we can make a custom nightguard to reposition your jaw and thus remove your pain. Our guards are created in our lab from a high-strength polymer. Your custom-fit guard can be made in just two ten-minute appointments and is a great way to alleviate muscle soreness, tension headaches, and teeth grinding. We can also create other oral appliances, including an NTI-tss splint, that are worn during the day to keep your jaw in the right position and relieve headaches.

Botox is an FDA-approved, nonsurgical injection that can temporarily smooth lines and wrinkles on your face and neck. Although it’s commonly known for cosmetic improvements, it’s recently been used to alleviate TMJ pain. This is because Botox is a muscle relaxer, so the same mechanism that relaxes and smoothes facial wrinkles can also relax your joint muscles.
