Dental veneers are thin shells, often made from porcelain, that attach directly to the front of your teeth. They are a long-term solution to cosmetic problems, unlike teeth whitening, which has to be touched up every few months.

We use traditional porcelain veneers and ultra-thin veneers similar to Lumineers. Ultra-thin veneers, which are much thinner than traditional porcelain veneers, are translucent and require little to no preparation of the tooth. Both ultra-thin and porcelain veneers are strong and highly durable.

When you come to Infinite Smiles for veneers, the first thing we will do is get digital images of your teeth. Dr. Patel will use these for a digital smile design, so he can evaluate your smile and discuss the changes he sees as necessary. He will also create a 3D model so that you can see what your teeth will look like after the procedure.

Before the veneers can be attached, your teeth must be thoroughly cleaned and buffed. This ensures a secure bond between veneer and tooth. Depending on the type of veneer you use, you may need to have a thin layer of enamel removed, so your veneer does not stick out past your gum line. Ultra-thin veneers, which are similar to Lumineers, and require less removal of the enamel than traditional veneers.

The process, from design to attaching the veneers, takes only six hours. The first step is to prep your teeth and to make a mold, and the second step is to actually attach the veneers. To give you the strongest bond, we will use dental cement and a special light to harden the cement, securing the veneers to your teeth.

For the most part, you will care for your veneers like you would your natural teeth. Simply brush twice a day and floss once a day, and your veneers will last for years. You may need to take some care when eating and not bite into anything hard with your veneers. And remember that they can stain like natural teeth, so limit those notorious teeth stainers like red wine and coffee.

The Power of Porcelain Veneers

The most common type of dental veneer is the porcelain veneer. Porcelain is a very durable ceramic that closely simulates your natural teeth. They are somewhat thick, which makes them strong, but that means your teeth will require preparation. These veneers can cover chips, cracks, and heavy stains.
